Peris Nyaboe Bosire // Kenya
Peris grew up in a remote smallholder farming community in Kenya, experiencing first-hand the daily struggles of smallholder farming. This inspired her to co-found @farmdriveke, a Kenyan fintech, agricultural startup using simple mobile phones, machine learning, and data analytics to ensure smallholder farmers get access to loans. To date, @farmdriveke has registered 3000 farmers, and loans have been facilitated to 400 farmers. Peris and her co-founder intend to scale-up fast. They forecast 210,000 loans will have been processed by the end of 2018; and half a million Kenyan smallholder farmers will benefit from FarmDrive’s services within five years. FarmDrive received investment from @safaricomltd’s Spark Venture Fund. Peris has a First Class Honours BSc. Computer Science degree from @universityofnairobiand has been awarded the prestigious 2016 Queen’s Young Leaders Award from Her Majesty the Queen and the 2016 Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in Development Work in recognition of her outstanding role in transforming livelihoods and making a lasting difference in communities - contributing to global development.
